What is the process?

More on what to expect
Referrals
You can obtain a referral from your regular GP. Your GP will lodge a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) with Medicare, and provide you with a referral letter to bring to us.
If you are eligible for a MHTP, you will receive a rebate (usually $98.85 for a 1hr appointment). This rebate is processed AFTER the appointment is completed. The rebate will be sent back to the bank account that your Medicare card is linked to.

Self-Referral
If you prefer, you can self-refer for services. No referral is needed, but also you won't be eligible to receive any Medicare Rebate.

Intake Process
Email kim@intrepidmindpsychology.com.au to request an intake form to be emailed to you. This will enable a review of the services you require, and ensure those services can be provided to you before proceeding with a booking.

Booking
Once you have received your referral letter (or, if you are opting for non-rebated appointments, you won't need a referral letter at all), and had a confirmation email after the intake process, you can use the booking system on the home page here
Book in a time that works best and you will be taken to the payment page.

Payment
Payment for appointments is made at the time of booking the appointment. The full fee is charged at that time, and the rebate is processed after you have attended the appointment. Payment in advance secures your appointment time.

If you are presently experiencing difficult financial circumstances, and would like to be considered for a bulk-billing arrangement, please contact us to discuss further.

Health Insurance
Some Health Insurance providers will cover a portion of the cost of psychological services. If you would like to make a claim, you would need to do so directly through your insurance company, as Intrepid Mind Psychology does not offer HICAPS for Health Insurance claims. Contact your Private Health Insurance company for any queries about the process.

Attending the appointment
If attending an appointment face-to-face, you will find us at 195 Melbourne Road, Wodonga. This is the same building as Recovery Solutions Counselling. When you enter the reception area, please inform the receptionist that you are here to see Kim at Intrepid Mind Psychology, and take a seat. You will be greeted in the waiting room at your appointment time.

First appointment
When we meet for the first time, there are a few housekeeping items we need to discuss first. That includes obtaining your consent for the use of AI scribes in our sessions, providing information about confidentiality and its limitations, and obtaining your informed consent to proceed.

The first appointment is known as an 'Initial Assessment', and is focused on information-gathering. It's about getting to know you, what has happened over time and what you're seeking some support with.
This is also where we discuss what treatment is recommended, what that looks like and whether you're happy to engage in that particular treatment.

You will always have the right to decide whether or not you engage in a particular treatment.

Subsequent appointments
You can use the same booking system to book in your next appointments, or you can discuss in your session if you would like regular sessions booked in for you.

Mondays
At this stage, only Mondays are being offered for appointments.
