FAQ
We understand that seeking help can bring up many questions. Here are some common inquiries we receive from our clients regarding our services and approach at Intrepid Mind Psychology.

What services do you offer?
Intrepid Mind Psychology is a private practice mental health service.

Both in-person and telehealth options are available. We are currently taking bookings for adolescents and adults of all ages, and can work with a range of mental health conditions.

Do you bulk bill?
I will offer bulk billing on a case-by-case basis, where there is financial hardship.

I believe that everyone should be able to access mental health care regardless of financial constraints. This must be balanced with the reality of offering a private practice service with its associated costs.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes, with some specific limitations to confidentiality.

Situations where confidentiality does NOT apply:
-
Where an immediate risk of harm exists
-
Where ordered through subpoena by a court
-
Where a person under the age of 18 is at risk of harm
-
In some cases where there is a need for professional supervision, a mandated part of psychologists' registration. This could be one-on-one supervision with a fellow psychologist, or in clinical meetings.
-
When providing updates to your referring GP or other health professional.

This will also be discussed with you at the initial appointment, please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Can you read minds?
No! (Thankfully!)

Some people feel a little anxious when talking to a psychologist, with the idea that we might be able to read minds, or "get into your head".
This is not the case.

Our training and experience of working with many people, help us to help you to understand your own patterns of thinking.
Why only Mondays?
I'm just getting started!

At this stage, there is just me. I am also working in another private practice clinic across the border the other days of the week. I have decided to branch out on my own.

What if I'm not quite sure if you're the right person for me?
Great question, and an important one.

The reality is not everyone will be every else's cup of tea. That's completely normal.

If we have a session together and you don't feel I'm the right fit for you, that's completely ok! You are under no obligation to continue with me, and I will not be offended. In fact, if you let me know, I can help connect you with other clinicians.
What if I'm not quite sure whether my problem is something you can help me with?
I will tell you if something is out of my 'scope' or my area of knowledge and experience.

The use of the intake form is partly for this purpose - where I can learn a little more about what you might need support with, and if it is an area that I am not trained in, I will contact you and help you to connect with a clinican that would be more appropriate.
